The Application of the Piezoelectric Cable

The main application area of the piezocable is in security sensors, installed on the wall of a certain domain that needs to be protected or installed separately. The security sensor that is installed separately has excellent sensing capabilities compared to the existing fiber optic method. Especially, in smaller domains, it is accepted as an economical choice.

In addition, the existing sensor that is used to detect traffic volume is a loop sensor that detects whether there is a vehicle or not. The structure is a bit complicated being circular or square, and because the installation procedure is difficult, it takes a long time to install. However, the sensor of a piezocable is a kind of line because it is in a form of a cable. Thus, it is inexpensive compared to an existing loop sensor, and if a shallow groove is dug on the road and the installation is completed by planting a sensor is in it, the installation cost and time is reduced. Also, by the extrusion process, continuous production is possible and the length of the sensor is long and flexible, so there is the advantage of not being limited by space or territory. A very important aspect is the Weight in Motion (WIM). The existing loop sensor determines if a vehicle is there or not, but is not able to give any information on the weight of the vehicle. On the other hand, the piezocable of a piezoelectric sensor provides data on the existence of vehicles and their weight at the same time. It is worth noting that this makes it possible in real time to perform weight management of roads and overload surveillance of vehicles.

Also, if the simple switching circuit of a piezocable is planted, a switch with a special function of being able to operate in a long and wide domain or practically anywhere is installed. This switch can be used in driverโ€™s license testing locations, as a bell inside the bus for bus riders to signal for a stop and for emergency stop use on a process line at

the factory. Furthermore, the piezoelectric device has a very fast response speed so it functions appropriately in situations where the amount of exercise and impact needs to be measured. And, taking advantage of its property of flexibility, there are increasing attempts to use this on robots or on the human body.
